Georgia Bennett Goodwin was the wife of Dr. Max Goodwin and the mother of their daughter Luna. She was a very talented and successful dancer but happily gave it up for her pregnancy. In 2019, Georgia was severely wounded in a car accident and ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

History[]

Early Life[]

Georgia was raised in Connecticut by her parents Gwen and Calvin. Little else is known about her life before the show and meeting Max aside from the fact that she was very interested and talented at dance.

Georgia and Max first meet in Chinatown when she takes her friend in due to the fact he hurt himself when challenging her to a fouetté competition. Max then challenges her to one thinking it was a food and saying he'll buy her dinner if he loses. He does. Max and George's relationship continues to grow and he eventually proposes to her and they get pregnant. Upon learning of this pregnancy Max and Georgia both agree to quit their jobs so they can both look after the baby due to the fact that their jobs - especially Max's - need a lot of time and effort. Therefore, she is deeply upset when he accepts Peter Fulton's job offer behind her back, with her finding out accidentally. While this leads to their relationship being jeopardized and them living separately for some time.

After Georgia has placenta problems in Pilot she instinctively calls Max and he helps her to get better. While healing though Georgia is asked to keep on bed rest at the hospital, although Max is sad about the reasons why she is there in the first place he enjoys constantly being able to see her and after he gets out, he asks her to move back in together instead of living with her parents and she accepts.

Georgia is finally off bed rest and Max asks her out on a date to celebrate, forgetting that he has a fundraising event and reschedules, she surprises him though by showing up. She even goes over to Andrew Nomura, the main donor, and ends up convincing him and his fellow donors to donate by giving him a rundown of Max and telling him why he is not present at the gala - because he is helping patients - and ends up getting him to donate the full amount necessary. Unfortunately, at the end of the episode while Max and Georgia are dancing, he tells Georgia about his cancer. (Anthropocene)

Although Georgia is shocked by the news she is fully supportive and attends a meeting with Helen Sharpe in The Domino Effect to talk possible treatments. She agrees to stand by Max's side throughout his treatment despite dealing with a pregnancy. Things become more difficult with Max's cancer in As Long As It Takes, when Max collapses whilst alone with Georgia. She calls for medical help, but has to perform a tracheotomy in Six or Seven Minutes on Max by herself — a feat that deeply unnerves her.

She continues attending birthing classes with Max, despite him attempting to juggle his job as Medical Director and simultaneously attending chemotherapy sessions.

Unfortunately, her placenta problems persist and Max is forced to choose between Georgia or the baby, luckily though the ambulances get there on time and Georgia gets the blood necessary to help her. (Luna)

Death[]

In 2019, on the way to the hospital, the ambulance crashes into another, causing Georgia to be severely wounded post-crash and ultimately succumbed to brain bleeding at New Amsterdam Hospital, leaving Max grief stricken He ends up imagining her at times to try and incorporate her into his memories with Luna, their daughter.
